John D. Finnegan Assumes Board Positions at the Massachusetts Credit Union Share Insurance Corporation and the City Solicitors and Town Counsel Association of Massachusetts

BOSTON, MA - Boston law firm Tarlow, Breed, Hart & Rodgers, P.C. is pleased to announce that John D. Finnegan, Of Counsel at the firm, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Credit Union Share Insurance Corporation ("MSIC"), and was also re-elected to the Executive Board of the City Solicitors and Town Counsel Association of Massachusetts ("CSTCA").

Mr. Finnegan, a member of the firm’s Litigation Group, concentrates his practice in the areas of creditors' rights in bankruptcy, business litigation, tax lien foreclosures, construction litigation and real estate litigation. He represents banking and financial services companies, as well as individuals, and serves as Special Counsel to a number of municipalities in Massachusetts.  He also routinely advises businesses in a number of areas, including contract disputes, bankruptcy proceedings, workouts, discrimination actions and bid protests.

MSIC provides excess deposit insurance to credit unions throughout Massachusetts.  Presently MSIC currently insures just under a billion dollars of credit union member’s deposits for 76 state-chartered and 22 federally chartered credit unions in Massachusetts.   As a Director, Mr. Finnegan will assist in setting the general direction and control of the affairs of the corporation including guiding the organization to fulfill its purpose, setting the policies of the corporation and ensuring that those policies are properly implemented in accordance with MSIC’s enabling statute and corporate by-laws.

The CSTCA is the oldest and largest bar association in Massachusetts dedicated to the practice of municipal law. The members of the CSTCA consist of attorneys whose practice includes providing legal services to cities and towns or who otherwise devote a substantial portion of their practice to the advancement of municipal law. The CSTCA Executive Board generally controls the conduct of the affairs of the Association.

Mr. Finnegan, who was named a Massachusetts Rising Star in the years 2005 through 2010 by Boston Magazine, is a graduate of North Reading High School, earned his B.A. degree from the University of Massachusetts and his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.

Mr. Finnegan and his family live in Pelham, New Hampshire.
