Massachusetts Study Commission on Corporate Taxation Releases Final Report

Wednesday, January 02, 2008

Last April, Governor Deval Patrick, Senate President Therese Murray, and Speaker of the House Salvatore F. DiMasi announced the creation of a Study Commission on Corporate Taxation, naming 15 members to review and offer recommendations for streamlining the current tax code. The mandate of the Commission was to study the modernization and simplification of the current business tax laws of the Commonwealth, to promote tax fairness and equity, encourage business growth and innovation, and strengthen the Commonwealth's global competitiveness.

Please find below a link to the Special Tax Commission’s final report with all the accompanying appendices and dissenting comments.

It is expected that the Governor will include some or all of the provisions in his original tax bill in his budget recommendations for FY09, due out in a few weeks.
