Emily C. Shanahan

Emily is a member of the litigation department and focuses her practice on business litiagtion. Emily represents privately held businesses and individuals in a variety of industries.

Prior to joining the fimr in 2007, Emily was a senior associate in the litigation department of Ropes & Gray LLP, After law school, Emily served as a law clerk to Honorable Paul J. Barbadoro of the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire.

Representitive Experience

  • Defended seller of business in action rbought by buyer alleging breach of contract and fruad, including separate suit alleging violation of Federal False Calims Act
  • Defended LLC against claims brought by victims of Ponzi scheme operated by member of LLC
  • Represented property owner challenging permits issued in connection with "Smart Growth" development
  • Defended municipallity in third party action for contribution and indemnification arising out of cliams of environmental contamination
  • Represented executor in action asserting claims against insurer and others for sale of inappropriate life insurance policy
  • Advised party to software licensing contract regarding claims for breach of contract
  • Assisted with preparation of expert report regarding Massachusetts contract law in action pending in Singapore
  • Appellate work, including request to Supreme Judicial Court for further appellate review and briefs to Massachusetts Appeals Court
