Terry is a senior associate in the firm’s Litigation Department. He has extensive experience representing businesses and individual clients in all aspects of civil litigation in both state and federal courts throughout the country. Terry’s practice focuses on disputes among business owners, shareholder disputes, commercial litigation, construction litigation, contract claims, creditor’s rights, employment litigation, insurance coverage claims, and probate litigation.
Prior to joining the firm in 2007, Terry was a senior associate at the law firm of Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP, where he concentrated on major commercial litigation, insurance and reinsurance, and government enforcement and compliance matters.
Representative Matters
- Successfully represented minority shareholder of a closely-held corporation who was being “frozen out” of a family business by the majority shareholder.
- Successfully defended majority shareholders of a closely-held corporation in a suit alleging wrongful termination and breach of fiduciary duty.
- Successfully defended local municipality against age discrimination claims before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.
- Obtained a seven-figure attachment on real estate in an action involving the breach of a promissory note on behalf of a commercial lender.
- Successfully represented a global specialty chemicals manufacturer as part of a defense team coordinating several state and federal court actions involving the interpretation and enforcement of multi-million dollar supply agreements.
- Successfully defended a Massachusetts healthcare corporation in antitrust litigation.
- Successfully defended large, nationally-known financial services company in a high-profile lawsuit in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, as well as the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, regarding the forfeiture of IRA monies.
- Successfully represented a commercial landlord in a summary process action in order to enforce its rights under the terms of a lease.
- Successfully defended a financial services company and a broker in NASD arbitration proceedings in a broker-dealer case involving allegations of churning, misrepresentation and breach of fiduciary duty.
- Represented, on a pro bono basis, two separate clients (from Sierra Leone and Haiti, respectively) in asylum proceedings in the U.S. Immigration Court in Boston. Each client was granted asylum after a full hearing.
- Represented mentally impaired client in Massachusetts Land Court seeking to recover real property deeded as a result of undue influence and without the requisite mental capacity.
